VNAC Messages

Enter a message number in the search box at right or click on the category list below the search box.

VNC* messages are generated by VNAC agents, session-command REXX execs, REXX external host commands, and REXX functions. Message IDs are in the form VNCnnnnS, where nnnn is an integer and S is one of five severity codes: Debug, Error, Information, Server error, Warning.

Message definitions here list the message number, the displayed message text, the description, and any recommended action.

Substitution variables are indicated by italic type – for example, task-name. To define substitution variables, go to the Glossary of Message Variables or enter the term in the search box.

For more information about session commands/REXX execs, external host commands, and REXX functions, refer to the VNAC Automation book or the VNAC online help. From the menu bar, select Help > Online Help. Then select Command Interface or REXX Programming.

In logs and consoles, each instance of a message begins by identifying the VNAC command that generated the message. That allows for correlating multiple messages generated by the same session and/or command. The identifier, or fully qualified command ID, is a concatentation of the VNAC session number, command index, and command number. For example:
VNC0410I #4.236.240: User *rexx, command 'VNAC'.
The command index (236) is the command’s unique identifier in the session. The command number (240), also called the command ID, is the command’s unique identfier in the VNAC agent.

SDS Common Infrastructure Messages
SDS* and SMR* messages are not described here. They are generated by the SDS Common Infrastructure (SDSCI), a tool set that serves multiple SDS products. Those messages are documented at https://support.sdsusa.com/sdsci/
