Short on Storage condition [above|below] 16M line.

A Short on Storage condition exists above or below the 16-megabyte line as indicated by the message.

When storage usage exceeds 75% below the 16M line or 90% above the 16M line, the VNAC storage manager will no longer getmain storage in that area to satisfy storage requests. As a result, some VNAC agent functions or REXX execs may fail. This message indicates that there is apotential for this situation. It does not indicate that there is actually a problem, just that there may be if the storage usage does not fall below the threshold for the area.

By default, the VNAC agent will perform a system dump when this condition occurs but will continue to operate if possible. This system dump can be used by SDS to determine why the storage usage exceeded the threshold. Possible causes include a user program called from an automation exec getmaining storage but not releasing it when it terminates.

You can use the SOSSDUMP global configuration option to control performing a system dump when a Short on Storage condition occurs.

The default setting is to perform a system dump when a Short on Storage condition occurs. Note that the VNAC agent will only perform a maximum of one system dump per hour to avoid having a Short on Storage condition use all the available system dump space.

For more information about SOSSDUMP, refer to the GlobalConfig Parameters section in the VNAC Administer manual.
